Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.

  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Jurnal Ilmu Psikologi dan Kesehatan (SIKONTAN) welcomes high-quality submissions in the fields of psychology and health. To assist authors in preparing and submitting their manuscripts, the following guidelines provide detailed instructions for the submission process. Please read these guidelines carefully before submitting your manuscript to ensure that it meets the journal's standards.

1. Scope of the Journal

SIKONTAN publishes original research articles, systematic reviews, case studies, and other types of scholarly work related to the fields of psychology and health. We are interested in studies that address psychological theory, practice, and health-related issues, including but not limited to:

  • Psychological assessments and interventions

  • Mental health research

  • Behavioral health and public health

  • Clinical and experimental psychology

  • Psychological well-being and health promotion

  • Social, cultural, and environmental factors affecting health

2. General Submission Requirements

  • Originality: Manuscripts submitted to SIKONTAN must be original and not published or under review elsewhere. If part of the work has been previously published, authors must disclose this at the time of submission.

  • Language: Manuscripts must be submitted in Indonesia or English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscript reviewed by a native English speaker or professional language editor before submission.

  • Word Limit: Research articles should be between 3,000–6,000 words in length, including references, tables, and figures. Case studies or brief reports may have a shorter word count. Please refer to the specific requirements for different types of submissions.

3. Manuscript Structure

Please ensure that your manuscript adheres to the following structure:

  • Title Page:

    • Title of the manuscript (concise and descriptive)

    • Full names of all authors and their institutional affiliations

    • Corresponding author’s contact details (email, phone number, postal address)

    • ORCID IDs (if available)

  • Abstract:

    • The abstract should be between 150-250 words and clearly summarize the purpose, methodology, results, and conclusion of the research.

    • Include 3-5 key terms or keywords that best describe the content of your article.

  • Introduction:

    • Provide background information, stating the research problem, objectives, and significance of the study.

    • Briefly review the literature related to your research question.

  • Methodology:

    • Clearly describe the research design, participants, data collection methods, and data analysis procedures.

    • Ethical considerations should be mentioned, especially for studies involving human or animal subjects. Include information on ethical approval from the relevant committee.

  • Results:

    • Present the findings of your research in a clear, objective, and concise manner. Use tables, charts, and figures to support your results. Ensure that all data presented is relevant to your research question.

  • Discussion:

    • Interpret the results, discuss their implications, and compare them with existing literature.

    • Highlight the limitations of your study and suggest areas for future research.

  • Conclusion:

    • Summarize the key findings and their relevance to the field of psychology and health.

  • References:

    • List all references cited in your manuscript in APA 7th Edition style. Ensure that the references are up-to-date and relevant.

    • Only cite sources that were directly used in your manuscript.

  • Tables and Figures:

    • Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively and referred to in the text (e.g., Table 1, Figure 2).

    • Ensure that all figures and tables are clearly labeled and include descriptive titles and captions.

    • High-quality images and charts are required. Ensure that any figures or tables used are properly formatted for clarity.

4. Ethical Considerations

  • Ethical Approval: Manuscripts involving human or animal subjects must include a statement regarding ethical approval from the relevant ethics committee or institutional review board. The approval number or code should be provided.

  • Informed Consent: For research involving human participants, authors must obtain informed consent from all participants. Consent should be documented and submitted with the manuscript if necessary.

  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

5. Plagiarism and Ethical Standards

  • Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism and must adhere to the highest standards of research integrity. All sources must be properly cited to give credit to the original authors.

  • SIKONTAN uses plagiarism detection software to screen all submissions. Any manuscript found to contain plagiarized content will be rejected.

6. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts should be submitted through the online submission system on the SIKONTAN website. Please ensure that all required sections of the manuscript are included before submission.

  • The corresponding author will be notified by email upon successful submission and when the manuscript has been assigned to reviewers.

7. Peer Review Process

  • SIKONTAN follows a double-blind peer review process. Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other.

  • Authors will receive feedback from at least two independent peer reviewers. Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the editorial team will make a decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection of the manuscript.

8. Revisions

  • Authors may be required to revise their manuscript after the peer review process. Revised manuscripts should be resubmitted within the specified time frame.

  • Authors must address all reviewer comments and provide a response letter detailing the revisions made.

9. Publication Fee (Article Processing Charge - APC)

  • Once a manuscript is accepted for publication, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of Rp350,000 will be applied to cover the costs of publication, including editing, formatting, and hosting. Details of the payment process will be provided upon acceptance.

10. Copyright and Licensing

  • Upon acceptance, authors agree to grant SIKONTAN the right to publish their work under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

  • Authors retain copyright to their work but allow others to reuse, adapt, and distribute their article with proper attribution.
